A Statue of Liberty puzzle and a poster of Eisenstaedt's V-J Day nurse and sailor snapshot adorn my room and school binders. I feel that these American-esque decorations (among others) express my love for our country. Last July 4 – my favorite holiday – I took my passion from the bedroom to hold a fund-raising ($826.13!) garage sale for the Semper Fi Fund, a non-profit aiding injured U.S. soldiers. I'm getting a “USA” tattoo. Friends find my patriotism quirky, calling me the Braetriot (pronounced "bray-triot"), but hey – I like how my George Washington bust looks on my bookshelf.
